What is invoice matching software?
Invoice matching software automates verifying supplier invoices against purchasing documents—purchase orders (POs) and goods receipts (GRNs)—to ensure correct prices, quantities, and terms before payment. It supports two-way, three-way matching software (invoice-PO-GRN), and even four-way checks, applies tolerances, flags exceptions/duplicates, and routes approvals. Integrated with your ERP (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central), it delivers automated invoice matching, end-to-end accounts payable automation, and accurate purchase order matching with full audit trails.
How does the solution help with invoice matching?
It delivers automated invoice matching inside Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central—cutting hours to minutes and boosting accuracy:
1. Auto-import & classify: Pulls invoices/bank statements, reads lines, applies price/qty tolerances.
2. 2-/3-/4-way matching: Invoice ↔ PO ↔ GRN (plus inspection) for precise purchase order matching.
3. AI-powered recognition: Matches by PO number, vendor, IBAN, SKU, amounts—achieving up to 98% accuracy.
4. Payment recognition: Links bank transactions to approved invoices to close the loop.
5. Exception management: Flags mismatches/duplicates and routes to approvers.
6. Real-time visibility: Dashboards, audit trails, and KPIs for accounts payable automation.
7. Scales securely: Multi-bank/multi-currency support with PSD2-compliant connections.
Can the solution integrate with my ERP system?
Yes. It integrates natively with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central via an add-on from Microsoft AppSource, delivering automated invoice matching, PO matching, and payment recognition inside your ERP.

How does the solution compare to Basware or Stampli?
Basware and Stampli are broad AP tools; our solution is a specialized, Business Central–native invoice matching and bank feed/reconciliation add-on. It’s built exclusively for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, installs from AppSource in under an hour, and delivers two/three/four-way matching plus payment recognition to close the loop from PO to payment. Basware is an enterprise procure-to-pay suite (sourcing, invoicing, analytics) that integrates with many ERPs but isn’t BC-specific and typically requires a longer, project-based rollout. Stampli focuses on invoice capture and approvals with strong AP collaboration features; it integrates with multiple ERPs but is not BC-native and generally emphasizes 2-way matching. For PSD2-compliant, multi-bank, multi-currency connectivity and real-time reconciliation inside Business Central, choose our BC-first approach. Pick Basware when you need full P2P at enterprise scale; choose Stampli when AP approvals/collaboration are the primary need.
What is invoice matching and why is it important?
Invoice matching is the accounts payable control of verifying a supplier invoice against purchasing documents—typically the purchase order (PO) and the goods receipt (two-way = invoice↔PO; three-way = invoice↔PO↔receipt; sometimes four-way with inspection). It ensures the right items, quantities, and prices are paid before approval.
Why it’s important:
1. Accuracy & cost control: stops overpayments, duplicates, and pricing/quantity errors.
2. Fraud prevention: pays only matched, authorized invoices.
3. Compliance & auditability: creates clear, traceable PO–receipt–invoice trails.
4. Cash-flow efficiency: speeds approvals, supports on-time payments and discounts.
5. Scalability: automated invoice matching handles high volumes across banks/entities.
Using invoice matching software (e.g., Business Central–integrated three-way matching) automates these checks, reducing manual work from hours to minutes while improving control and visibility.
What are the benefits of automated invoice matching?
1. Time savings: Cut AP work from hours to minutes with straight-through processing.
2. Higher accuracy: AI rules/tolerances drive up to 98% correct matches; fewer duplicates/overpayments.
3. Faster approvals & cash flow: Quick, rules-based routing helps capture early-pay discounts.
4. Fraud prevention: Flags anomalies, mismatches, and unauthorized invoices early.
5. Real-time visibility: Status dashboards, exceptions, and audit trails (PO–GRN–invoice–payment) in Business Central.
6. Compliance & audit-ready: Traceable evidence streamlines audits and regulatory checks.
7. Scales with growth: Handles high volumes, multi-entity, multi-bank, and multi-currency.
8. Lower costs & better vendor relations: Less manual effort, fewer disputes, more on-time payments.
9. Closed loop to payment: Payment recognition reconciles bank transactions back to approved invoices.
What features should I look for in accounts payable automation?
Here’s a practical checklist of must-have features for Accounts Payable (AP) automation—especially if you’re on Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
1. Invoice capture & digitization: OCR/EDI/email ingestion, header/line-level data extraction, duplicate detection.
2. 2-/3-/4-way matching: PO, Goods Receipt (GRN), and (optionally) inspection matching with configurable price/quantity tolerances.
3. Exception management: Clear reason codes, auto-routing to owners, SLA reminders, and one-click corrections.
Approval workflows: Role-based, multi-level approvals with mobile/email actions and audit trails.
4. Payment automation: Scheduled runs, batch payments, remittance advice, and payment recognition to close the loop.
Real-time visibility: Dashboards for invoice status, holds, discounts, DPO, and cash forecasting.
5. Security & compliance: Role-based access, SSO/MFA, immutable logs, VAT/GAAP/SOX support; for bank connectivity, PSD2-compliant encrypted APIs.
6. ERP integration: Native Business Central integration (no middleware), master-data sync, posting rules, dimensions.
7. Scalability: Handles high volumes, multi-entity, multi-currency, and cross-border banking.
8. Supplier experience: Vendor data validation, optional portal, self-service status/queries.
9. Analytics & audit: Line-level history, exportable evidence, exception/discount analytics.
10. Time-to-value & support: Fast deployment, sandbox testing, clear SLAs, responsive support.
If you’re a Business Central user, prioritize native integration, PSD2 bank feeds, high-accuracy (≈98%) invoice matching, and quick AppSource installation—these are the hallmarks of solutions like Bankfeed that reduce hours to minutes while improving control.

Hello, I found this Dynamics 365 Business Central add-on that would save me tons of time by automatically importing bank statements and matching payments with invoices. It has certain technical requirements like an up-to-date Business Central version and banks that comply with the PSD2 open banking protocol. Could you please check the requirements and let me know if we are able to use the Bankfeed app? The requirements are here: www.bankfeed.com/faq/, or you may contact the add-on’s developers at [email protected].
Bankfeed works as an add-on for Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Therefore the usage of this ERP system is necessary. The solution works best with the three latest versions of Business Central. Before installing Bankfeed, we recommend checking if the following conditions are met: 1. Open banking API (PSD2) is not occupied. If you use online payment provider services (Wordline, Wordpay, etc.), they might be connected through an open banking API. Therefore, Bankfeed will not be able to connect to this API as it is already occupied. In these situations, we can connect Bankfeed through the bank’s direct API, known as a Gateway. However, it usually requires additional banking fees and additional implementation hours. 2. Banks provide the information required for recognition and reconciliation. Even though open banking is regulated using the PSD2 protocol and is mandatory for all EU banks, the banks treat these requirements differently. The amount of information provided through the APIs and its quality can differ depending on the bank. This can lead to a situation where Bankfeed will not be able to properly identify customers/vendors or documents because of the lack of data. Here is a list of mandatory bank fields needed to enable Bankfeed’s payment recognition and reconciliation. Please check HERE if the banks you are using provide the information from these fields:
